EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC/NORTHROP GRUMMAN CORPORATION

Marine Systems, Sunnyvale, California

Last Position Held: Advisory Engineer, Materials Technology Department

Major Responsibilities: Lead Engineer responsible for technical oversight of Materials Engineering Department. Research and development projects in corrosion control and advanced materials; presentations on engineering progress to high ranking customer representatives; consultant on coatings selection, environmental-regulation compliance, corrosion-and materials-degradation preventive design, and service corrosion-failure analysis. Also, responsible for materials and corrosion-resistant design for products in new business efforts in off-shore oil production.

Selected Accomplishments: Led the Corrosion Prevention and Control engineering effort which determined corrosion-resistant design and coatings for steel, copper, and aluminum alloys in major missile launching systems. These included the Peacekeeper in Minuteman Silo, the Peacekeeper Rail Garrison missile launch system, and the Trident II submarine missile launch system. Used modern spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to conduct failure analyses. Conducted an investigation and designed the solution to a major corrosion problem in undersea missile launching equipment, and carried over the solution into design of next generation of hardware. Investigated other field corrosion problems and devised remediation methods. Provided major contributions to successful proposals for new business.

U.S. STEEL CORPORATION

Applied Research Laboratory, Monroeville, Pennsylvania

Last Position Held: Senior Research Engineer, Applications Technology

Selected Accomplishments: Fifteen years in research, development, and application testing of corrosion-resistant alloys and coated alloys. Invented five alloys and corrosion-resistant metallic coatings that were commercialized by USX. Developed technology that was licensed to foreign and domestic corporations. Conducted laboratory, natural environment, and service tests of corrosion resistant materials. Used modern spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to conduct failure analyses.

HOOKER CHEMICAL CORPORATION

Research Laboratory, Grand Island, New York

Last Position Held: Research Chemist, Metal Treatment

Selected Accomplishments: Research and development of paint-base coatings for metals. Invented a method of electroplating plastics that was widely patented by Hooker.

ADELPHI UNIVERSITY

Garden City, New York

Last Position Held: Assistant Professor, Chemistry

Courses Taught: Undergraduate and graduate Inorganic Chemistry, Introductory Chemistry, Qualitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry Laboratory.
